We had to do our own class science fair project for school. We conducted an experiment to see if we could change the color of a penny? The kiddos made a hypothesis as well and then we went through the procedure to see if our experiment would work. Guess what? It did! Pennies are made from copper and vinegar is an acetic acid. A chemical reaction took place when vinegar was poured on the pennies. They turned green in color, except for the back. The back did not change because the back of the pennies did not get enough oxygen, which is needed for a reaction to take place. Our pennies would really fit in at The Wizard of Oz's Emerald City!
Our question!
The materials needed for our experiment
Our hypothesis!
